Deuces Wild Video Poker Payout
The wild royal flush, the five of a kind, the straight flush, and the four of a kind hands all pay more in regular Deuces Wild compared to Triple Deuces Wild video poker. But look at the payout for four deuces. Triple Deuces Wild video poker pays out that hand at 600 to 1, compared to 200 to 1 for the Deuces Wild game. This would also be possible in video poker but it would take much longer because the 0.77% advantage game (full pay deuces wild) can only be found in the quarter level. Assuming you can play 1000 hands per hour (a speed few can attain) and played perfectly that would result in.
Video poker typically gives you one of the best chances at beating the casino. However, you need to play the right variation to achieve high return to player (RTP).
9/6 Jacks or Better offers 99.54% RTP with perfect strategy involved. You can do even better than this payback, though, with Deuces Wild.
The latter features 100.76% RTP under the best pay table (i.e. “full pay”). But where can you find full-pay Deuces Wild? Below, you can read more about this game along with where it’s available.
What Is Deuces Wild Video Poker?
The wildcard is becoming lost in today’s poker world. Popular poker variations like Texas hold’em, Omaha, and Seven Card Stud have made wildcards a distant memory to modern players.
Deuces Wild, however, is a throwback to when wildcard games were more popular. The deuces (2s) in this game are wild and can substitute for other cards to form a winning hand.
Here’s an example:
- You hold 4-5-4-J-2.
- Normally, this hand would be garbage in Deuces Wild.
- But the deuce is wild.
- You now have a three of a kind and qualify for a payout.
The wild 2s make this game fun and give you a better opportunity to form big hands. However, you also need to get at least a three of a kind to win.
Most video poker variations only require you to get a high pair (jacks through aces) or two pair to win. But these same games don’t have wildcards like Deuces Wild either.
Why Is Deuces Wild So Coveted?
I’ve explained that the wild 2s add additional entertainment to this variation. However, the wildcard aspect isn’t the only thing driving Deuces Wild’s popularity.
This game can also offer incredibly high payback. Full-pay Deuces Wild features 100.76% RTP, which is higher than any other variant.
You can actually make long-term profits through this game. Casinos rarely give you such an opportunity to beat them.
“Not So Ugly Deuces” (NSUD) offers 99.73% RTP. Although this payback doesn’t deliver guaranteed profits, it’s still better than the majority of video poker variations and casino games in general.
Of course, you need to choose the right pay tables to enjoy the highest-paying Deuces Wild games. Here are the tables for both the full-pay and NSUD versions.

One Las Vegas Casino Currently Offers the Best Deuces Wild Game
As mentioned earlier, casinos aren’t high on giving you the ability to win long-term profits. They want to retain their advantage so that they win out in the end. That said, full-pay Deuces Wild machines have all but vanished in recent years.
I did a sweep of vpFree2, which tracks video poker machines, just a few years ago. Over a dozen casinos were offering the full-pay version at that point.
The landscape has changed greatly, though. Sam’s Town in downtown Las Vegas is the only North American casino I can find that has full-pay Deuces Wild.
They only have a limited number of these machines too. Therefore, you’ll likely need to visit at non-peak hours to find a seat.
Vegas used to be the one place that you could rely on for these games. Sadly, that’s no longer the case these days.
What Kind of Profits Can You Win With the Full Pay Version?
Full-pay Deuces Wild isn’t like spinning gold out of a machine. It only lets you bet quarters and requires a fast play rate to make decent money.
Nevertheless, you can earn solid profits with this game compared to other video poker variations. You’re not going to get rich, but you have the ability to earn several dollars per hour.
Here’s an example:
- You have a 0.76% advantage.
- You play 1,000 hands of Deuces Wild per hour.
- You bet $1.25 per hour (5 coins worth a quarter).
- 1,000 x 1.25 x 0.0076 = $9.50 per hour
$9.50 per hour isn’t enough to reasonably support yourself while living in Las Vegas. Furthermore, this example relies on perfect conditions, such as 1,000 hourly hands and expert strategy.
But even if you only earn $5 an hour, you’re at least profiting off your gambling hobby. Compare this scenario to the average casino game, where you’re facing negative-expected value (-EV).
Why Is the Gambling World So Short on Deuces Wild Machines?
Full-pay Deuces Wild was actually quite common up until the late 2000s. Casinos fully understood that they were giving players a +EV situation.
However, they still rolled out these games because most video poker players aren’t that good. Many gamblers are attracted to signs reading “Over 100% Payback,” but they lack the strategy knowledge to win profits.
The average video poker player has become better, though. They’re more willing to use strategy charts and trainers to improve their play than past generations.
Additionally, video poker strategy resources have become more available than ever before. Players no longer need to visit bookstores and order specially made trainers just to hone their skills.
All of these factors have led to full-pay Deuces Wild being less favorable for casinos. Rather than continue to make little-to-no money off these games, casinos simply replace them with more-profitable machines.
Those who are looking for +EV situations may avoid an 8/6 Jacks or Better game (98.39% RTP). However, plenty of unknowledgeable gamblers will still play these machines and collectively give the casino more profits.
What Video Poker Games Should You Settle For Beyond Deuces Wild?
You can see that full-pay Deuces Wild isn’t available in abundance. However, you can still find other +EV opportunities in the video poker world.
Here are some other games that can deliver profits (all full-pay versions):
- Joker Wild (Kings or Better) – 100.65% RTP
- Double Bonus – 100.17%
- Loose Deuces Wild – 100.15%
- Double Double Bonus – 100.07%
Joker Wild is similar to Deuces Wild in that it’s not widely available. Nevertheless, you can still find it at a couple of Vegas casinos.
Double Bonuses, Loose Deuces Wild, and Double Double Bonus are definitely more abundant. They’re also available in Reno and Laughlin, rather than just Vegas.
One common theme that you’ll see here, though, is that Nevada is the only state with +EV video poker machines.
Other states, such as California and New Jersey, feature games that offer close to 100% payback. However, the Silver State is the only place with +EV games.
You’ll find the largest concentration of such machines in Las Vegas. That said, you need to live around or visit Sin City just to enjoy the highest video poker payback.
I don’t blame you for not wanting to make the trip or even base your life in Vegas for $5 to $10 in hourly gambling winnings. But these machines make for a nice side excursion whenever you visit Las Vegas.
Conclusion
The video poker world isn’t what it used to be. Casinos no longer offer as generous of payback as they once did—especially when it comes to full-pay Deuces Wild.
In fact, you can only find these machines in one Las Vegas casino. Nowhere besides Sam’s Town currently features full-pay Deuces Wild.
If you can’t find an open seat at Sam’s Town, then Sin City boasts a decent number of Double Bonus, Loose Deuces Wild, and Double Double Bonus machines. Each of these games offers +EV through their full-pay versions.

Different casinos (online or offline) offer various pay tables that effect the payout percentages for the Deuces Wild machines. This article is going to look at some of the common Deuces Wild pay tables that are used, and provide you with the maximum payout percentage you can attain with the specific pay table. Remember that the payout percentages listed on this page can only be attained by using perfect Deuces Wild strategy.
We'll start by providing an overview of the Deuces Wild pay tables covered on this page. Then, we'll go into more detail about each pay table below. Let's get started:
Pay Table | Payout Percentage |
Full Pay Deuces Wild | 100.76% |
Not So Ugly Deuces Wild | 99.73% |
Ugly Deuces Wild | 98.91% |
20/4/4 Deuces Wild | 97.97% |
20/12/10/4 Deuces Wild | 97.58% |

20/10/8/4/4 Deuces Wild | 95.96% |
Full Pay Deuces Wild - 100.76%
The first pay table we'll analyze is the full pay version of the game. This pay table is the best possible version of Deuces Wild you can find, and if you play correctly you can actually attain a payout percentage of 100.76%. Here is the pay table:
Hand | Payout |
Natural Royal Flush | 800 |
Four Deuces | 200 |
Wild Royal Flush | 25 |
Five of a Kind | 15 |
Straight Flush | 9 |
Four of a Kind | 5 |
Full House | 3 |
Flush | 2 |
Straight | 2 |
Three of a Kind | 1 |
Please note that the above pay table is for players betting five coins, and thus receiving the bonus for making a natural royal flush.
Not So Ugly Deuces Wild - 99.73%
The Not So Ugly pay table is commonly used at Vegas casinos, and is a very deceptive pay table as it appears to pay out more than full pay, but it actually doesn't. Five of a Kind, Straight Flush, and Flush all pay out more than full pay games, but four of a kind pays out less which swings the odds against you.
Hand | Payout |
Natural Royal Flush | 800 |
Four Deuces | 200 |
Wild Royal Flush | 25 |
Five of a Kind | 16 |
Straight Flush | 10 |
Four of a Kind | 4 |
Full House | 4 |
Flush | 3 |
Straight | 2 |
Three of a Kind | 1 |
Please note that the above pay table is for players betting five coins, and thus receiving the bonus for making a natural royal flush.
Ugly Deuces Wild - 98.91%
Ugly Deuces Wild is another commonly used pay table for Deuces Wild, and offers even worse odds than Not So Ugly Deuces Wild. Payouts for full houses are increased to 4x, but payouts for four of a kinds are decreased to 4x. This reduces the maximum pay percentage to 98.91%.
Hand | Payout |
Natural Royal Flush | 800 |
Four Deuces | 200 |
Wild Royal Flush | 25 |
Five of a Kind | 15 |
Straight Flush | 9 |
Four of a Kind | 4 |
Full House | 4 |
Flush | 3 |
Straight | 2 |
Three of a Kind | 1 |
Please note that the above pay table is for players betting five coins, and thus receiving the bonus for making a natural royal flush.
20/4/4 Deuces Wild - 97.97%
20/4/4 Deuces Wild increases the payout for a Full House, but decreases the payouts for Wild Royal Flushes and Four of a Kind. This results in a maximum payout percentage of only 97.97%. We recommend trying to find a different game, because these odds are very poor.
Hand | Payout |
Natural Royal Flush | 800 |
Four Deuces | 200 |
Wild Royal Flush | 20 |
Five of a Kind | 15 |
Straight Flush | 9 |
Four of a Kind | 4 |
Full House | 4 |
Flush | 3 |
Straight | 2 |
Three of a Kind | 1 |
Please note that the above pay table is for players betting five coins, and thus receiving the bonus for making a natural royal flush.
20/12/10/4 Deuces Wild - 97.58%
This version of Deuces Wild reduces two payouts (Wild Royal Flush and Five of a Kind) and increases two payouts (Straight Flush and Full House) but overall it only offers a 97.58% maximum payout percentage. Here's the table:
Hand | Payout |
Natural Royal Flush | 800 |
Four Deuces | 200 |
Wild Royal Flush | 20 |
Five of a Kind | 12 |
Straight Flush | 10 |
Four of a Kind | 4 |
Full House | 4 |
Flush | 3 |
Straight | 2 |
Three of a Kind | 1 |
Please note that the above pay table is for players betting five coins, and thus receiving the bonus for making a natural royal flush. There is also a slightly different pay table that is similar to this one, but only pays out 9x for a straight flush instead of 10x. That pay table offers a max payout percentage of 97.06% with perfect Deuces Wild strategy.
16/13/4 Deuces Wild - 96.77%
This version of Deuces Wild increases the payouts for Five of a Kind and Straight Flush, but decreases the payout for Four of a Kind which reduces the maximum payout percentage to 96.77%. Here is the table:
Hand | Payout |
Natural Royal Flush | 800 |
Four Deuces | 200 |
Wild Royal Flush | 25 |
Five of a Kind | 16 |
Straight Flush | 13 |
Four of a Kind | 4 |
Full House | 3 |
Flush | 3 |
Straight | 2 |
Three of a Kind | 1 |
Please note that the above pay table is for players betting five coins, and thus receiving the bonus for making a natural royal flush.
12/4/4 Deuces Wild - 96.01%
Deuces Wild Video Poker Msn
This pay table actually looks much worse than it is. Although payouts are severely cut for five of a kind and four of a kind, the full house payout is increased which helps the payout percentage significantly. It still isn't a great table though:
Hand | Payout |
Natural Royal Flush | 800 |
Four Deuces | 200 |
Wild Royal Flush | 25 |
Five of a Kind | 12 |
Straight Flush | 9 |
Four of a Kind | 4 |
Full House | 4 |
Flush | 3 |
Straight | 2 |
Three of a Kind | 1 |
Please note that the above pay table is for players betting five coins, and thus receiving the bonus for making a natural royal flush. There is also a much worse version of this pay table that offers 8x for a Straight Flush, and only 2x for a Flush. The maximum payout percentage for that pay table variation is 95.59%. There is another version that offers only 7x for a Straight Flush as well as only 2x for a Flush - that pay table offers a 95.19% max payout.
20/10/8/4/4 Deuces Wild - 95.96%
Deuces Wild Video Poker Pay Tables
This pay table greatly differs from full pay Deuces Wild. The Wild Royal Flush, Five of a Kind, Straight Flush, and Four of a Kind payouts are reduced, while the Full House payout is increased. This results in an overall max payout percentage of 95.96%. Here's the table:
Hand | Payout |
Natural Royal Flush | 800 |
Four Deuces | 200 |
Wild Royal Flush | 20 |
Five of a Kind | 10 |
Straight Flush | 8 |
Four of a Kind | 4 |
Full House | 4 |
Flush | 3 |
Straight | 2 |
Three of a Kind | 1 |
How To Play Video Poker Deuces Wild
Please note that the above pay table is for players betting five coins, and thus receiving the bonus for making a natural royal flush.
The above pay tables are the most common Deuces Wild tables, but there are far more that can be found in casinos across the world. If you're in the casino and see a pay table you don't recognize, we recommend comparing it to a full pay game to see how it is. Focus on the more common hands like Flushes and Straights - if it pays out the normal amounts for those hands, the table probably isn't too bad (although it's certainly worse than full pay).
Beware of games that have bigger payouts for rare hands like Five of a Kind, but slash payouts for the more common hands like Flushes. These games are always suckers' bets, because you're going to hit the common hands much more often and not receive as much money as you should. Learn more at our full Deuces Wild guide.
